We recommend this harness for owners looking for a dedicated training aid, particularly those with brachycephalic breeds.
HALTI is a well-known name in UK dog training circles, developed by animal behaviourist Dr Roger Mugford. The No Pull Harness uses a clever patented lifting mechanism that gently discourages pulling - and it genuinely works. When we tested it on a stubborn Bulldog who couldn't wear a headcollar, the difference was noticeable within minutes.
The lightweight design is a real positive. Unlike bulkier harnesses, the HALTI sits minimally on the dog's body, allowing natural movement. Our test dog seemed to barely notice it was on, which helped with initial acceptance. The reflective chest panel also added welcome visibility during darker winter walks.
Where the HALTI falls short is in the fit. With only three sizes (Small, Medium, Large), dogs that fall between sizes are likely to struggle. During our testing with a medium-large Springer Spaniel, the harness shifted position several times during a 30-minute walk, which was frustrating. Multiple reviewers on Amazon report similar sliding issues.
The HALTI also isn't designed for extended or unsupervised wear - it's purely a walking and training tool. If you want a harness that doubles as an everyday accessory for car journeys or outdoor adventures, you'll need a separate option. It's a good specialist tool, but it doesn't replace a proper all-round harness.
